Ankabut 9th Ankabut Users’ Meeting October 2nd and 3rd

Abu Dhabi, 23, September 2013

Ankabut will hold its 9th Users' Meeting on 2nd-3rd October 2013.at American University of Sharjah. The meeting is under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates, Ruler of Sharjah and President of American University of Sharjah. 

The theme of the October event is: Innovation - Implementation - Impact. 

Ankabut will present three outstanding keynote international speakers on Wednesday, October 2nd and Thursday October 3rd. 

Dr. Stephen Wolff, the Chief Technology Officer of Internet2:  Dr. Wolff is also one of the many fathers of the Internet. He is mainly credited with turning the Internet from a government project into concept that proved to have scholarly and commercial interest for the rest of the world. Stephen was inducted into the Internet Hall of Fame this summer.  

Dr. David Keyes, Dean of the Division of Mathematical and Computer Sciences and Engineering at KAUST (the King Abdullah University of Science & Technology) in Saudi Arabia:  He is a faculty affiliate at several national laboratories for the U.S. Department of Energy and author or co-author of over 100 publications in computational science and engineering, numerical analysis, and computer science.

Marci Powell, Past President United States Distance Learning Association and Global Director Education Polycom: She is responsible for helping to ensure customer and partner success, assisting in product development related to education, and for facilitating integration and utilization of educational technology. Her expertise includes interactive and engaging videoconferencing, distance learning course development, and instructional design and delivery, Ms. Powell will give the day two keynote live from Texas.

“Ankabut is proud to have such a group of distinguished speakers presenting to our community,” said Fahem Al Nuaimi, Chief Executive Officer of Ankabut. “We expect a record attendance of over 400 people in attendance from over 50 higher education institutions from the UAE to join us at the American University of Sharjah.  A record number of outstanding proposals were submitted and we are excited fellow UAE colleagues wish to share their work.” 

Registration is open and interested parties are invited to join the Ankabut team and other higher education government and industry leaders for this special two-day event.  Sessions with speakers from outstanding UAE universities will be presenting during the October 2nd and 3rd breakout sessions. In addition breakout sessions on October 3rd will include university students presenting on topics related to research and education, a session on educational technology with academic and industry leaders, and a roundtable panel discussion on IPv6 led by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority.
