Academic and research libraries play an integral role in the development of UAE’s knowledge economy. eFADA has been established by Ankabut to enhance the education and research resources available to stimulate UAE’s knowledge economy. This Consortium enables the United Arab Emirates academic and research libraries to create and sustain a rich and diverse knowledge environment that supports teaching, learning, and research through the sharing of resources, expertise and programs.

This goal will be achieved through several initiatives, which includes establishing a shared union catalog with delivery of physical objects among institutions, engaging in cooperative collection development and developing a national digital institutional repository for archiving and disseminating faculty and research output, along with developing a Consortium purchasing method for e-resources.
